Marlene J. Brummer

Stoughton- Marlene J. Brummer, age 85, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Agrace HospiceCare in Janesville, She was born in Milwaukee on February 22, 1938, the daughter of Jack and Hazel Hathway.

Marlene graduated from Waukesha High School. She attended UW-Madison. On February 28, 1959 Marlene married Thomas Brummer. Together they were a military family until Tom’s retirement from the service in Nellis Air Force base in Las Vegas.

Marlene worked as a Radiology clerk at St. Mary’s Hospital for over 26 years until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and vegetables, and feeding and watching the birds. Marlene was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church, where she was involved in bible study, lefse making, Sunday School and the newsletter.

Marlene is survived by her son, Randal; daughter-in-law, Donna; five grandchildren, Tessa (James), Jason, Zachary (Rose), Luke, and Tyler (Jessica); and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Debra Vike; two sons, Craig and Matthew; and brother, Jack Hathway.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County Road B, Stoughton, with Rev. Paula Geister-Jones officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, immediately following, in the church fellowship hall. Friends may greet the family from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, and from 10:00 AM until the time of services at church on Saturday.
