Martha Y. Rotelli, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2015. She was born in McKeesport, PA, to the late Dane and Mildred (Terbovich) Yancic. She was the devoted and loving wife of Leo A. Rotelli. They married and moved to Chicago, where Martha fell in love with "her city." She treasured Chicago, its fashion, fine dining, opera, parades and circus' alike. Martha liked to always "make memories" as she would say and to observe holiday traditions. She was the original "Martha Stewart", a talented gourmet cook, seamstress and knitter. She enjoyed politics, liked to fish and played golf so well that she even got a hole-in-one. Martha was a school board member, a den mother and everything in between. Above all though, she treasured her role as a mother, a "Granny" and a "Gum-Gum", and made sure her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren always felt special and loved.
Her professional career began in 1968 with General Electric Credit Corp. in Commercial and Industrial Finance where she was appointed their first female Regional Credit Analyst. In later years, Martha was an Event Planner. A perfect pairing of her organizational skills, culinary talents and tasteful creativity.
Martha is survived by her husband Leo; children Mason (Donna), Eric (Bonnie), and Jennifer (John) Cuccia; grandchildren Brett (Tamara) Rotelli, Graham (Sheila) Rotelli, Travis Rotelli, Corey Rotelli, Brittany Rotelli, Eve Cuccia, and Marie Cuccia; great-grandchildren Kayla and Kristin Koch, Giuliana, Finn, and Blaney Rotelli. She was preceded in death by her brother Nick (Dorothy) Yancic and her sister Louise (Walter) Popelas.
We will all miss Martha - her advice, compassion, strength, commitment, strong moral code, keen sense of humor and her vibrant, intelligent conversation.
Thank you Mom. You were the best example and you taught us well. We love you more.
A memorial service is planned for January 31st at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church Chapel, 209 South St., Waunakee, WI. In Martha's honor, please skip the black clothing, she preferred cheerful colors!
