Madison- Martha R. Snyder, age 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Attic Angel Place, Madison. She was born on December 22, 1931 in Mankato, MN the daughter of Paul & Halcyon (Page) Rockey. Martha grew up in Mankato, MN. She was a graduate of Carleton College, Northfield, MN graduating in 1953 with a degree in music. Martha taught music in Ely, MN after graduating from college. She moved to LaGrange, IL where she raised her two children and then in 1974 moved to Shorewood Hills, WI. While in LaGrange she played flute with the community band. In her spare time she enjoyed playing the flute, her involvement with the Madison Opera Guild, following the stock market and travelling. She is survived by her beloved family which include her daughter, Julie (Kevin LeRoy) Snyder, Fitchburg; her son, Michael (Edward Chang) Snyder, Los Angeles, CA; her grandsons, Josh McDonald, Valdez, AK and Zac (Nicole) McDonald, Brookfield, WI; great grandchildren, Samuel & Olivia McDonald; her brother, Thomas (Helen) Rockey, Northfield, MN. Martha was preceded in death by her parents. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 1-2:00 p.m. at the Cress Funeral Home, 3620 Speedway Road, Madison. Committal service will be held in Forest Hills Cemetery, Madison.
