Martha Thorne Sorensen

Martha Sorensen passed away on Thurs. Feb. 11, 2009. Martha Sorensen was born on September 12, 1934, starting life as Marcia Graham.   As an infant, she was adopted by Louise and Clarence Thorne as their only child. Though the family moved around quite a bit, she called Crystal Lake, Michigan her home.   As a young woman, Martha attended high school Lelana, a private boarding school in Michigan.   After graduating, the family moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Martha took a job as a receptionist.  She met her husband, William Sorensen, on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend, and they were married on January 11, 1958. Martha devoted her life to homemaking, and raising her two daughters, Barbara and Karen who survive her.   Later in life, she was reunited with her birth family and is survived by her brother Milton and her niece Becky.   Martha will be remembered for her kind and determined nature and will be missed very much by her daughters and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 6021 University Ave. Madison on Saturday, February 20, 2010 with visitation beginning at 3:30 p. m. with a brief Service at 5:00 p. m.
