Goecks, Marvin W.  Stoughton-Marvin W. Goecks, age 78, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the Skaalen home, Stoughton.  Marvin was born on April 23, 1930, the son of William and Pauline (Ziesch) Goecks. He enjoyed farming until entering the service on February 28, 1951. Marvin served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on January 23, 1953. On June 26, 1954 he married Betty Jane Shepard. Marvin lived in Madison for 25 years and in Sun Prairie for 29 years before moving to Stoughton in the last years and spent his last months at the Skaalen Home, Stoughton.  He worked in service and installation for the Thermogas Company of Madison for 38 years. Marvin then worked for the Wisconsin Cheeseman in Sun Prairie from 1991 until 2003.  He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Marvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and a large garden. He is survived by his son, William (Ruthan) Goecks of Stoughton; two grandsons, Travis of Madison and Treavor of Stoughton; sister, Fern Dicks of Madison; and many nieces and nephews. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty, on August 22, 2002; three sisters, Charlotte, Pearl and Marie; and brother, Victor. Visitation will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Avenue, Madison on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 from 4-7:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 322 E. Washington Avenue, Madison Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with  Rev. Ken Smith officiating. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc. Thank you to Dr. Hendricks and his nursing staff for their caring service, also to Dr. Musa and his nursing staff who were always there for Marvin, additionally, a very special thank you to the staff at the Skaalen Home for all who helped with his care.  A big thank you and goodbye to all of the neighbors from over the years.
