Marvin Levy

January 31, 1918 — April 16, 2019

STOUGHTON - Marvin A. Levy age 101, passed away peacefully at Skaalen Home in Stoughton on Tue April 16, 2019. He was born Jan 31, 1918 to Joseph and Elsie Levy in the Town of Henrietta in Richland County. He married Josephine Kolash on Nov 8, 1941 in Hillsboro and together they raised their two children while farming in rural Sauk County for 30 years. He then worked 10 years for the Wonewoc-Center School District until retirement at age 65. Marvin was active in many ways over the years serving as a Valton School Board member and a Woodland Township Board member while farming. After Marvin and Josie moved to Stoughton in 1990 they both volunteered at the Stoughton Senior Center and at Skaalen. During 35 years of retirement, he enjoyed yard work and gardening, walking, playing Euchre and Scrabble, doing crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy daily. During visits with friends and family, all were amazed at his remarkable memory.
Marvin is survived by his daughter Carol Rucks, son Dennis (Becky) Levy; four grandchildren, Amy (John) Folsom, Brian (Paula) Rucks, Eric (Julia) Levy, Andy (Tricia) Levy; four great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jacob Folsom, and Anika and Talia Rucks; sister Norma Bulin; and also by other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Josephine, son-in-law Lavern Rucks, sister Bessie (Bill) Rott, sister Thelma (Albert) Wopat, and a brother-in-law Arnold Bulin.
A Gathering of Remembrance is scheduled for Friday afternoon May 3 at the Vennevol Clubhouse in Stoughton from 1:30 to 3:30 with a special time of sharing memories beginning at 2:00. Please, no memorials.
