Mary Dolores Alt

Mary Dolores Alt, age 90, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2009 in Orange County California. She was born on September 4, 1918 in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin; she lived in Madison for almost 70 years before moving to California in 2004. Mary was a homemaker and community volunteer. She was a Former President of the Madison Catholic Women's Club and active at Our Lady Queen of Peace in the senior program and as a reader and minister of communion for many years. Mary is survived by her daughter Margie Griffith of East Lansing, MI; her son and daughter-in-law David and Veronica Alt of Idyllwild, CA; grandchildren Todd and Andie Griffith, Brian and Anna Griffith, Kristi and Shawn Howard, Kathy and Kirk Munsell, David and Angie Alt, and Michelle and Steve West; 8 great-grandchildren Alexander, Caroline and Jack Griffith, Thomas and Nora Griffith, Chase Alt, Maggie Alt and Kate West; as well as, several nieces, nephews and cousins.   Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Hubert F. Alt, in April 2007; her parents Daniel and Mary Lynch; sisters Agnes, Margaret and Philomena; brothers Norbert and Jerome; her brother-in-law Rick Griffith and grandson Patrick Alt. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison at 12:00PM with Monsignor Kenneth J. Fiedler officiating. A visitation will begin at 11:00AM until the time of the Mass. An interment will take place at Sunset Memory Gardens immediately following.. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of Mrs. Alt.
