Mary Conlin

MADISON- Mary Jane Conlin (Lavin), age 92, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2014. She was born on August 5, 1922 in Madison, the daughter of Arthur and Ruth (Maidens) Lavin. She graduated from East High School in 1940 and attended Edgewood College.

Mary Jane was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church and the Queens Guild. She served on the board of trustees of Edgewood College. She also was a member of the Emerald Club, Madison Catholic Women's Club, St. Mary's Auxiliary and Black Hawk Country Club.

In 1943, she married Hendrik T. de Hartog, a member of the Office of Strategic Services during World War II. He was killed in action in Germany in 1945. In 1947, she married J. Kenneth Conlin, an executive banker with First Wisconsin National Bank for 45 years, who preceded her in death in 1988.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas (Cindy) Conlin of Brookfield and Kevin (Diane) Conlin of Madison, three granddaughters, Kelsey and Hannah Conlin of Brookfield and Ruth Conlin of Madison, and one grandson, Kenneth Conlin of Madison.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Dr., Madison, on Friday, September 19, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. Kenneth J. Fiedler presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. A visitation will be held at church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Queen of Peace School Endowment Fund or Edgewood High School.
