Mary Dowdle

Madison - Mary Alice McCormick Dowdle passed away on Oct. 7, 2012, at the age of 78. She was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, the daughter of Dr. Stuart and Erma Alice (Lane) McCormick. Mary Alice graduated from Edgewood High School in 1952 and earned her RN degree in 1956 at St. Mary's School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota. She married Edward Dowdle in 1957 and they later divorced in 1978. Mary Alice retired from nursing after many years at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. She volunteered at Hospice and worked many elections helping at the voting booths.
She leaves behind four children, Ann Dowdle, Connecticut, Mary Kate (Michael) Taylor, Iowa, Patricia (Kendall) Gulseth, Stoughton, and Michael (Ellen) Dowdle, Madison, and four grandchildren, Alex and Lauren Sampson, Iowa, and Adam and Sarah Gulseth, Stoughton. She was the heart of her family and will be so missed by all who loved her. She was preceeded in death by her parents, and four brothers and two sisters. Special thanks to the nurses and aides at St. Mary's 8SW and the ICU unit.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 10:30 am at ST. BERNARD'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2015 Parmenter Street, Middleton, WI 53562.
