Mary E. Pertzborn (Jenkins), age 72, of Middleton passed away on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023.
She was born on June 25, 1951 the daughter of Robert and Florentina (Ballweg) Pertzborn. She married David P. Jenkins on June 7, 1986 at their home in Middleton.
Mary graduated from Middleton High School in 1969. Her school years included activities that reflected her love of school sports, music, and her friends. Mary was always known for her sense of humor and the big smile on her face.
She began her career at Rural Insurance, leaving after one year to begin a job with the State of Wisconsin, Unemployment Insurance Division. After many years and several different positions, she retired in 2005 as a Section Chief of Collections and Project Manager. During her employment she received many awards of recognition. Mary learned the love of travel from Dave. Their favorite destinations were in the west, visiting National Parks and National Forests. Their travels always followed the routes of the railroads, taking opportunities to ride trains whenever possible. Mary enjoyed quilting, basket weaving, crossword puzzles, card making and a good game of canasta, euchre or backgammon.
Mary is survived by her sisters, JoAnn (Laverne) Theis of Verona, Jean Kaminski, of Fairborn, Ohio, Betty (Gary) Frey, and Judy (Dean) Kasten of Prairie du Sac; nine nieces and nephews, Becky (Noel) Lambert, Scott (Marcy) Theis of Verona, Troy Theis (Jason Rush) of Madison, Ryan (Jenny) Theis of Muskego, Tara (Rick) Skurulsky of Denver, Laila (Court) Drescher of Sauk City, Shannon (Mike) Johnson of Prairie du Sac and Kyle (Krista) Kasten of Evansville, Jennifer Reif (Foster) Xenia, Ohio; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, David in Jan. of 2022; her parents, Robert and Florentina Pertzborn; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charles and Marjorie (Prey) Jenkins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday April 14, 2024 from 12:00 noon to 3:00p.m. at the Vintage 600 Water St., Sauk City, WI
