Mary Endres

Madison - Mary A. Endres, went home to God the Father on May 5, 2011 at HospiceCare in Fitchburg after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mary was born on April 27, 1930 to Thelma and Merle C. Dunning and was raised by Albert and Thelma Johnson. On June 14, 1952, Mary was united in marriage to Howard A. Endres in Madison.

Mary worked as a secretary at Madison General followed by many years as a clerk at Oscar Mayer on 6th floor sausage. She was an active member of Oscarettes since 1973. She loved to go on gambling trips and has many friends that will miss her. Upon her retirement, Mary was one of the founders of READI, serving on its board and volunteering at many of its projects.

Mary is survived by her husband, Howard; her daughter, Merle Annette (Joseph) Boehnen of Mt. Horeb; grandsons, Anthony ""Tony"" of Mt. Horeb, Kyle of Waukesha and Timothy (Heidi) of Chippewa Falls; great grandchildren, Isaiah, Joy and Levi in Chippewa Falls; a sisters-in-law, Kay Kraft of South Carolina, Marge Endres of Oregon and Joyce Endres of Sun Prairie; a step brother, Oscar (Jean) Johnson of Madison and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle C. Dunning, Thelma (Clements) Dunning Johnson and Albert Johnson; a brother, Merle H. Dunning; In laws, William and Dorothy (Post) Endres; brothers-in-law, William Endres, Greg Endres, Harold Endres, Howard Howe and Don Kraft; sisters-in-law, Joan (Endres) Howe, Elizabeth Endres and Catherine Endres and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at HospiceCare in Fitchburg and the staff at the Ingleside Nursing Home in Mt. Horeb for all the care they extended to Mary.

Funeral services will be held at the Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave, Madison WI on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Charles Wolfe officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and also on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will conclude at Highland Memory Gardens.
