Mary Louise Schuler

January 23, 1961 — July 28, 2008

Mary Louise Schuler, age 47 passed away on Monday July 28, 2008 at her home. Mary was born in Hollywood CA . She attended California State University at Long Beach where she received a liberal arts degree with a certificate in special education. Mary and Dean met in California and were married at the Cathedral Basilica in St. Augustine Florida on June 6, 1992 . They moved to Wisconsin where they raised 2 daughters Briana and Annelise Schuler. The family attends St. Maria Goretti Catholic Parish in Madison where she was a faithful member of the contemporary choir and enjoyed many special friendships. Mary was a substitute teacher in the Madison School District for 10 years. She had a great love for working with special needs students, cooking, entertaining and giving gifts. Mary was always thinking of others and sending cards for all occasions. She loved a good joke and had a contagious sense of humor. Mary is survived by her loving husband Dean Tompkins, 2 beautiful daughters, Briana Schuler-Tompkins and Annelise Schuler ""Tompkins, her mother Julia Schuler of Oceanside, CA and 2 sisters; Ann Schuler of Marina del Rey, CA and Claire (John) Walsh of Highland, CA, and 2 brothers John Schuler of Temecula, CA and James Schuler of Oceanside, CA as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and special friends. She is further survived by her mother and father in-law Dave and Donna Tompkins, brother and sister in-laws Craig ( Lynn ) Tompkins, Dawn Tompkins, Dale (Beth) Tompkins, Mike (Lori) Tompkins, Mark Tompkins and Chris (Ruth) Tompkins.   A Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2008 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road in Madison . A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday August 1, 2008 at 11 a.m. at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Avenue in Madison , WI . In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) in Madison , WI and Tellurian in Madison , WI . Mary will forever be in our hearts and prayers.
