Mary Ann Sprague, 86 years old, peacefully crossed to her eternal reward in the early morning of March 21, 2025. Mary was born in Madison on November 29, 1938 to David and Valeria (Langer) Beckwith.
Mary was united in marriage to John “Jack” Sprague on June 10, 1961. Together they enjoyed their favorite pastime, boating and UW Badger Football. They spent many hours boating on the Madison Lakes, Lake Michigan and the Mississippi River in their happy place, their boat, “The Crackerjack.”
Mary will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children, John R. Sprague “Randy,” Caryl A. Sprague “Cari”, and Cami (Pat) Reid; three precious grandchildren, Connor (Eve) Funnell, Cayla Funnell, and Adam Sprague; sister-in-law Natalie Beckwith; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, and brother, David Beckwith.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, WI at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, preceded by an informal visitation at 10 a.m. There will be a luncheon after the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that any memorials in Mary’s name be directed to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Alzheimer’s Association (https://ww.alz.org) or to the Red Cross, supporting the refugees in Ukraine.
