Mary C. Swenson

Stoughton – Mary C. Swenson, age 81, passed away peacefully with her husband of 65 years by her side on Saturday May 4, 2024, at Azura Memory Care in Stoughton.  She was born January 4, 1943, in Madison, WI to the late Ernest and Alice (Noyce) Culb.  Mary met the love of her life Oscar “Weed” Swenson and they married on August 8, 1959, in Deerfield.  Weed and Mary made their home in Stoughton, raising four children and creating many wonderful memories together.  The two were inseparable, rarely spending time apart.  Mary worked for many years at Skaalen Home as a laundry coordinator.  She loved to clean, organize and shop in secondhand stores.   She cherished every moment she spent with her beloved children and adored grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her husband Weed Swenson; her children Nona (Jeff) Havey, Randy (Kristen) Swenson, Tammy (John) Harty; daughter-in-law Darcey Swenson; 5 grandchildren Lacey and Samantha Swenson, Colton (Celeste) Havey, Carly (David Gordy) Havey, Jack Harty; 1 great granddaughter Brynlee Havey;  brother Charles (Judy) Culb, sister Dorothy (Kenny) Hoff; and is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Rick Swenson, and her sister Betty Eastman.

A visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Saturday May 11, 2024, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 5801 Hwy 51 McFarland, WI.  Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona.

The family kindly requests that attendees consider wearing yellow, Mary’s favorite color, or another light color to honor and celebrate the joy and light that Mary brought into our lives.
