Mary Lou Taylor

Madison - Mary Lou Amborn Taylor, age 83, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010 after a brief illness. She was born in Poynette, WI to Anna and Lewis Amborn on November 1, 1927. She married Benton C. Taylor on June 30, 1951. She will be remembered for her zest for living, her sense of humor, her love for her family, and her compassion.   She graduated from Madison West High (1945), and the UW School of Nursing (1950), and received a B.S. degree from UW Madison (1952). A born nurse, Mary was an RN for 43 years, retiring in 1993. She served on the Alumni Board of the UW School of Nursing. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, where she had been active in many areas, including the Altar Guild, Foyers, and the Casserole Brigade. She was a member of UW Madison's University League and the Madison Civics Club. Mary was an avid fan of UW sports, and also enjoyed classical music concerts and the theater.   She is survived by her husband of 59 years; children, David (Debbie) Taylor, Ann Taylor, Mary Kay Taylor, Gail (Jim) Davis, and Timothy ( Shari) Taylor; and grandchildren, Matthew (Traci) Davis, Heidi (Al) Coppersmith, David Taylor II, Allison Taylor, and Lydia Taylor.   Her family wishes to thank the staff of UW Hospital's Trauma and Life Support Center for their excellent care and compassion.   Memorial services will be held Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at ST. ANDREW'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 1833 Regent Street, Madison 53726.    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the UW Carbone Cancer Center and HospiceCare, Inc. of Madison.
