Mary Jean Tichenor

Madison-Mary Jean Tichenor, age 76, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg.  She was born on December 21, 1931 in Prairie du Chein the daughter of Lawrence & Lauretta (Pitzer) Geisler. Mary Jean was united in marriage to Donald Tichenor on June 20, 1953 and they enjoyed over 55 years of marriage.  She was a longtime resident of the Prairie du Chein area and most recently Madison.  Mrs. Tichenor owned and operated Geisler's Blue Heaven Restaurant, Bar & Supper Club, Prairie du Chein with her parents and family for over 40 years.  She was noted for being a gracious hostess for her customers and for being an accomplished organist entertaining her patrons at the club. Mrs. Tichenor was a past member of the Eagle's Club, Wisconsin Restaurant Assn., The Wisconsin Tavern League and the Prairie du Chein Chamber of Commerce.  She volunteered with the R.S.V.P. group in Madison.  Mary Jean will be missed by her beloved family including her husband, Donald Sr. daughter, Debera (Johnnie Powell) Tichenor, son Donald Tichenor Jr.  and grandchild Jesha Tichenor all of Madison; sister, Jeri (Jack) Kluesner, Prairie du Chein; brother, Larry (Diane) Geisler, Monona, IA; special niece, Michelle Mara, Sun Prairie;  several other nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents.  A Memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the HospiceCare Center, Chapel, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison.( A memorial service also will be held at a later date in Prairie du Chein).  A time of gathering will be held on Saturday at the chapel from 12:00 until the time of service.
