Mary M. Ziegler, age 80, of Madison, went home to be with her heavenly father on October 28, 2010 at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg with some wonderful friends by her side.  Mary was born on May 30, 1930 in Sparta, WI, the daughter of Margaret (Carr) and William Niedfeldt. She was united in marriage to Loren Ziegler, but that union ended in divorce. Mary was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church until recently when failing eyesight and inability to get around as she would have liked to curtailed her activities. For many years she ran Bingo for the Church and was also responsible for assuring that the Sunday collections were counted, reconciled and deposited in the bank. She went so far as to plan her vacation trips around being available for her Sunday responsibilities at the Church. Throughout her lifetime Mary worked at many different jobs, but the last place of employment was with the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services. She retired at the age of 59 so that she could care for a very dear friend, Rene Schmidt. She got Rene back to good health and then did some traveling. Mary also enjoyed going to DeJope, which she called the ADC ( Adult Daycare Center) with Sue Trautwein her devoted friend of many years.  Mary is survived by her son, Robert L. Ziegler, brother, Harold ""Harpy"" Niedfeldt, nieces and nephews, William (Kathy) Niedfeldt, John (Karin) Niedfeldt, Rose (Jack) Worden and Jeannie (Joe) Wieman. She is further survived by other relatives and good friends.  Funeral services for Mary will be held at 11:00AM at the St. Peter Catholic Church 5001 N. Sherman Avenue, Madison, WI 53704, on Saturday, November 6, 2010 with Monsignor Charles Schluter and Fr. Roger Nilles concelebrating the Mass. Visitation will be at the Church beginning at 10:00AM until the time of the service. Burial will be Monday, November 8th, with a committal service at 11:00AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Sparta, WI.  Mary's friend Sue, would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Hernandz and nurses, Sue, Renee and Monica at St. Mary's Hospital and all of the staff at HospiceCare, Inc. even though she was only there for a short time for their loving attention and care of Mary. Memorials of remembrances can be made to either one of Mary's two favorite charities, which were HospiceCare, Inc. in Fitchburg and St. Vincent de Paul in Madison.
