MaryAnna Hall, age 90, died as she lived, with grace, good humor, and a love of the Lord on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at her home in Madison.
MaryAnna was born 06/24/21 in Sheboygan, the daughter of Alma Agenten and Edmund Liebl. It was in Sheboygan that she met her childhood sweetheart, Harold. She moved to Madison and graduated from the UW in Home Economics in 1943, working at Forest Products Lab as a Timber Mechanic to put herself through school. She moved to Milwaukee and became a fashion Designer for Rhea Manufacturing and the Boston Store during the war. On 8/7/44 she married Harold Hall who died on 07/16/89.
Harold and MaryAnna raised their family in Eau Claire until they returned to Madison in 1962, and became members of St. Maria Goretti Church. MaryAnna was a devout Catholic and she arranged flowers for Sunday Mass for many years. She volunteered at Memorial High School Library and later became a volunteer for the Cancer Society arranging rides to treatment for cancer patients for 25 yrs.
She was an avid reader, a passionate informed voter, and loved to play Scrabble. She was a good loser and a gleeful winner. She expressed unconditional love to whomever she was with in the moment.
She is survived by her children: Pat Hall (Cindy), Lynn St. Cloud (partner Ruth Peach), Tim Hall (Annette Starrantino), Peggy Berkvam (Jim), Steve Hall (partner Scott Lindstrom), Kathryn Hall and son Hal, Dan Hall (Kate Watters) and all the other people who adopted mother along way. MaryAnna is further survived by grandchildren: Jennifer Devlin (Mark), Brad Hall, Elizabeth Garcia Hall (Jose`), Siena and Makaela Hall, Jake and Maddie Berkvam, Hal Hall, and great-grandchildren: Allison, Thomas, Kyle, Piper, and Ziggy, siblings: Gert Blackshear (Perry), Helen Goodavish (Frank), Ed Liebl (Pat), and Justy Liebl (Yalile`). In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her sister Charlotte Howland, daughter, Helen Hall Turner, and grandsons, Adam Turner and Jeff Hall. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave., Madison WI, with visitation from 9am until the time of service at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society, or HospiceCare Inc. A special thanks to HospiceCare Staff for providing care and comfort throughout her final days.
