Waunakee: Megan Ann Flood, age 46, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024 from health complications brought on by her long battle with alcohol addiction. She was born Dec. 21, 1978 in Woodstock, IL the daughter of Richard and Janice Flood. Megan received her Bachelors of Arts in Sociology in 2001, and later her Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin in 2007. She lived in the Madison area for much of her life, most recently in Waunakee. In recent years, Megan enjoyed waitressing, a profession that made her feel connected to her community. Prior to that, she was an Appellate Judicial law clerk for Illinois Appellate Justice Susan Fayette Hutchinson.
Megan was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews; Fiona Crehan (11), Gemma Crehan (8), Patrick Crehan (4), Ellarose Bruah (8), and Lone Ramos (4), who she showered with thoughtful gifts and great affection. Megan loved animals and was a pet-mama to two dogs, Barkley and Jamie, and two cats, Luda and Marius. She was passionate about helping and giving to others—neighbors, family, and friends. Megan enjoyed political debate, swimming (especially in Destin, FL), and irreverent humor. She also found pleasure in gardening and cooking. Megan never forgot a birthday and she was the best person to be with when you felt sick. She was loyal, funny, and generous.
Megan is survived by her parents, Janice and Richard Flood; siblings, Maura Flood and her husband Sam Ramos, Katie Crehan and her husband Will Crehan; 5 nieces and nephews; and life long friends, Andrea Farrell, and Megan Shea Villalobos.
A private family ceremony will be held in Madison with a public celebration of her life to be announced at a later date.
