Melvin R. Koski

Sun Prairie-Melvin R. Koski, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in Madison. He was born in Eveleth, MN on June 10, 1927 the son of George and Anna (Johnson) Koski. Melvin was a 1945 graduate of Eveleth High School, graduated in 1947 from Dunwoody College of Technology and attended the University of Minnesota. During 1946-1947, he served in the U.S. Army as a motor sergeant in Salzburg, Austria. On April 24, 1954, he was united in marriage with June Halvorson in Virginia, MN. Melvin was employed with Chevrolet Motor Division of GM for 31 years in various service management positions. He also performed numerous product liabilities for engineering analysis in Detroit as well as claim investigations. He retired in 1986. Melvin enjoyed salmon fishing in Lake Michigan as well as reading hunting and fishing articles. Melvin moved to Sun Prairie in 2001. He is survived by his children Renee (Alan) Beuscher of Sun Prairie, Donna (Greg) Rust of Jackson, WI and David Koski of Sun Prairie; grandchildren Sara (Andrew) Spatola, Bradley (friend Kristin) Beuscher, Lawrence Rust and Margaret (friend Christopher) Rust; great-grandchildren Brayden Rust and Lydia Spatola; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife June in 2007, son Alan, sister Norma (Ray) Carlson and nephew John Carlson. Services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010 aat 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Cress Funeral Home, Sun Prairie and additionally a service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 2010 at Bauman-Cron Funeral Home, 516 First Street, Virginia, MN with a visitation being held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Virginia, MN. Those wishing to give memorials may do so for The Colonial Club, 301 Blankenheim Lane, Sun Prairie, WI 53590.
