Merlyn Lee England

Sun Prairie- Merlyn “Merle” Lee England, age 87, passed away after a short and courageous battle with cancer on Monday, January 15, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Madison on March 14, 1936, the son of Martell and Lynette England.

Merlyn was united in marriage on August 6, 1954 to Maurene Martinson in Madison. He worked at Madison KIP/KLS for over 30 years. Merlyn enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, mechanical and computer repair, Ham and CB radio, hunting, fishing, and canning.

He is survived by eight children, Michael (Connie) England, Larry (Michelle) England, Marcia (Tom) Brown, Lauria (Tom) Berndt, Cheryl Berndt, Melinda (Michael) Ladwig, Deanna England, and Lee (Patti) England; 22 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; sisters, Carol Hartshorne and Sharon Stapelmann; and many nieces and nephews. Merlyn was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Edward Rice; wife, Maurene; in-laws, Henry and Anna Martinson; sons-in-law, Sidney Berndt and Anthony Amato; sisters, Euneva “Neva” Ringstad and Marlys “Marty” Finberg; brothers, Wayne and Dallas “Bud” England; sisters-in-law, MaryAnn England and June Lee; brothers-in-law, Marvin, Dallas, Harry, Lester and Jack Martinson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie. Burial will follow in Burke Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of services Saturday.
