On September 14, 2011, Michael (Mike) John Frankowski passed peacefully from this life. A long-time Madison resident, Mike was a loving husband, caring father, and kind friend.
Born in Milwaukee on April 8,1948, Mike studied zoology as well as the history and philosophy of science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He then worked in the university's physics and engineering departments for more than 30 years. In that time, Mike worked periodically in laboratories in Hamburg, Germany; Haleakal�, Hawaii; and Stanford, California.
Mike's passion for knowledge was clear to all. Eager to share ideas and thoughts, Mike nurtured curiosity and the spirit of discovery in his children, acquaintances, and the science community throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his father (Roman) and mother (Florence). He is survived by Christine, his wife of 41 years, and their three children: Karl (fianc�e Katherine Hengel), Alex (Christy Salzwedel), and Sonya. He is also survived by his brothers Alan, Dennis (Linda), Gerald (Terrie), as well as his nieces, nephews, and many friends.
On Monday, September 19, 2011, a visitation will be held at 10 A.M, followed by a service at 11:30 A.M., at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, located at 3610 Speedway Road, Madison.
