Lake Delton/Sun Prairie: Mike McMahon, age 74, passed away on Tuesday January 14th. He was born on February 18th, 1950 in Sun Prairie, the oldest son of Jim and Audrey McMahon.
Mike was a loving father, partner, brother, son, and grandfather who touched the lives of those around him in countless ways. He graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1968 and was a state wrestling qualifier. Mike proudly worked for the family business, EP McMahon and Sons, since he was 14 before retiring in 2012. He valued hard work and independence. You could always find him at the lake enjoying time with his friends and family. After retirement, Mike moved to Lake Delton as he always wanted. Mike loved playing cribbage, teaching others around him so that there was always a competitive game had-most of which he won. He loved watching sports games throughout his life and willing to throw out a friendly wager making Saturdays and Sundays more entertaining. Mike is known for telling his family “No one lives better than us” and was grateful always playing the hand he was dealt.
Mike is survived by his daughters, Tiffany (Steve) Bennethum, Kelly (Brad) Coy, his long time partner Carolyn Macken, his brother Al McMahon, and his grandchildren, Daniela, Savannah, Derek, Taylor, Stella, Oliver, Emmett, nieces Kate and Jackie, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Friday February 7th from 4-8pm at Buck and Honey’s in Sun Prairie. Come and share memories with the family and each other.
Mike will be deeply missed. His love and hard work will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. As he would have said, it was a charmed life.
