Loving husband, proud father, and poet in life and in verse, Michael J. Roberts passed away suddenly on August 26, 2010. Â Michael was born in Milwaukee on August 3, 1950, the second of ten children and a devoted member of the Oneida Tribe. Â Michael attended the University of Wisconsin, where he met Linda, his wife -- and bike-riding partner -- of 36 years. Â A dedicated supporter of martial arts, yoga, and The Simpsons, Michael passionately devoted his work life to such Milwaukee institutions as the Milwaukee Public Library, the Indian Community School, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Â Life changed for Michael and his family in 1999, when he suffered a massive stroke. Â But a brain injury could not deter a superhero like Michael, who became an active member of the Achilles Track Club and worked at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum. Â Michael is survived by Linda; his three children Joe, Melinda, and Allegra; his son-in-law Chris; his three Siberian Huskies and the horse Rosie; many wonderful family members and friends; and one helluva comic book collection. Â Donations can be sent to the Wisconsin Chapter of the Achilles Track Club, c/o Kim Virden. Â A gathering will be held on September 2, 2010 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Cress Funeral Home in Madison, 6021 University Avenue. Â
