Michael Spahn

WAUNAKEE/DEFOREST- Michael C. Spahn, age 31, lost his lifelong struggle with drug addiction on Friday, June 15, 2018. He was born on June 18, 1986, in Madison. He graduated from DeForest High School and was currently working with his Dad at the family business, Spahn Excavating, in Waunakee as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed shooting hoops, working with computers, listening to music and playing video games. He especially enjoyed being with family and friends and had a special bond with his grandpa, Stan Spahn, his best buddy. He also received never-ending love and support over the years from his aunt, Deb Bursinger and her family.

Michael was the kind of guy who would do anything for you. He had a contagious laugh and was a jokester. He had a love for basketball that he had always played since he was a young boy. He loved to play cards, hang out with his grandpa and dabbled in a few slots. He especially loved his true love of his life, his daughter, Stella, who was his world. We'll always love you, Michael.

Survivors include, his dad, Mike (Jodie)Spahn; his mother, Denise Lafler; a daughter, Stella Spahn; a sister, Cassie Spahn; three brothers, Jessie Olson, Zach Lafler and Eric Lafler; his grandfather, Stan Spahn; and his loving partner, Kristin Henrickson and her daughter, Danica; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Kathy Spahn; maternal grandmother, Bonnie Otteson; and paternal grandfather, Kenneth Schwebs.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee. A Gathering will be held at Rex's Innkeeper following the visitation.

To my son, Michael, I know I was hard on you at times and you thought the whole world was against you, but I promise everything I did was out of love for you. I wanted you to become the man you were supposed to be and you did too. I love you with all my heart, Dad.

In lieu of flowers the family will be establishing a memorial at a later date.
