Mildred Eleanor Bazata, age 97, of Madison, Wis., passed away on Wednesday Nov. 14th, 2018 at St. Mary's Health Care Center. She was born on Aug. 24th, 1921, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Frank and Marie Johanik. She married Arthur V. Bazata on February 23rd, 1946 in Chicago, IL. Mildred worked beside her husband at Suburban Candid Wedding Photographers on Cass Avenue in Westmont for more than 50 years. After she retired, she was able to make more time for her passions: cooking, baking, making Christmas cookies, candy making, cake decorating, and tending to her garden where she canned her produce. After moving to Madison, in 2004 with her daughter and son-in-law, she resided at an independent living center for seniors. She then moved to St. Mary's Health Care Center Memory Care where she spent 12 years. While there, she had many residents she called her friends as well as staff members. She was always busy with activities like playing bingo or feeding her guinea pigs!
Mildred is survived by her daughter Marianne (Alan) Staidl; Granddaughter Tracy (Paul) Wrycha; Great Granddaughter Phoebe Wrycha; Nieces Marie (Joe) Guzzo, Marilyn (Gary) Bray, Judi (Dave) Zych, and Jeanine Smith; Nephews Jim (Heidi) Johanik and Bill (Liz) Berglund. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur, and her brothers Frank and Joe Johanik.
Mildred will be laid to rest at Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien, Illinois.
