Mount Horeb -- Mildred Lillian (Dvorak) Schjonberg, 83, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Ingleside Nursing Home in Mount Horeb. Millie was born March 15, 1927 in Ashland, Wisconsin to Joseph Dvorak and Anna (Cjeka) Dvorak. She married Conrad (Connie) Emil Schjonberg on August 19, 1950 in Ashland. He preceded her in death on July 23, 1995. Millie worked as a legal secretary, first in Ashland and then in Madison, Wisconsin, where she and Connie moved in 1952. After taking time to raise her family, Millie went to work for the State of Wisconsin in the mid-1960s. She worked as a secretary and then as a planner in what was then known as the Office of Civil Defense, and later the Office of Emergency. She retired in the late 1980's. Millie was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Donovan Carpenter of Madison, Wisconsin and two brothers-in-law, Wilbur Barker of Ashland and George Schultz of Washburn, Wisconsin. She is survived by two sisters, Vera Schultz of Washburn and Marion Barker of Philips, Wisconsin; two daughters, Amy (Mark) Snyder of Janesville, Wisconsin and Mary Frances Schjonberg of Neptune, New Jersey; a son, Cletus (Chris) Schjonberg of Cross Plains, Wisconsin; two granddaughters, Olivia and Grace Schjonberg of Cross Plains, and a grandson, Maxwell Snyder of Janesville. The family thanks the Ingleside staff for the wonderful care they gave Millie and the kindness shown her family.Â
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Cress Funeral Home, 6021 University Avenue, Madison with the Father Rick Heilman presiding. Family will greet friends at the funeral home, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A luncheon at the funeral home will follow the services. For those wishing to do so, the family suggests memorial donations may be in Millie's name to HospiceCare Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.
