Mildred, ""Millie"", Tessmann, age 96, passed away peacefully at HospiceCare in Fitchburg on Saturday Nov. 14, 2009. Â She was born in Watertown, WI to Charles and Emma Neubauer on May 29, 1913. Â On June 17, 1933, she married John Tessmann in Watertown. They moved to Madison where they raised their four children. She enjoyed gardening, especially her flower gardens, which she worked in right through her last summer. In later years she was always ready to play a game of cards. Â Mt Olive Lutheran church, of which she and John were founding members, was the focus point of her life. She sang in the choir for over 50 years and was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice up to the time of her passing. In later years she was active in the quilting group there. She also embroidered the Baptismal napkins used in Mt Olive for over 60 years. Â She was employed for many years at SS Kresge, on the Square in Madison and at Westgate. Â Her survivors include her children, Joan (Paul) Dunn, El Cajon CA, Grant (Yvonne), Fitchburg, Sharon (King) Mahoney, Blue Mounds and Don (Shirley), Greensboro, NC, grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, brother Donald, Watertown and special friends Mabel Hummel, Richard and Barb Day and Louie and Karen Gardner. Â She was preceded in death by her husband, John, and seven siblings. Â A ""Celebration of Life"" Service and Gathering will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 1:30 PM at MOUNT OLIVE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 110 N. Whitney Way, Madison, WI 53705. A luncheon for family, parishioners and friends will be served at church prior to the service beginning at 12:00 Noon. Â The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nurses and doctors at both St Mary's 8SW unit and Pod 4 at Hospice Care. Â The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials are made to Mt Olive Quilters and Hospice Care, designated for use in maintaining the beautiful gardens.
