Miriam A. Semmann

Sun Prairie-""Miriam 'Mim' Semmann, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at her home. Miriam was born on October 3, 1937 in Milwaukee the daughter of Harold and Gertrude (Jansen) Goetsch. She was united in marriage with Ron Semmann and they celebrated their 50^th wedding anniversary this past April 17^th. Mim graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School and went on to receive her Registered Nursing degree from Mount Sinai Hospital, Milwaukee and her Bachelor of Science degree in Child and family Studies from UW-Madison. She was a member of two academic honorary sororities. She was a Registered Nurse and in the course of this profession ran Cramer Court Nursing Home in Milwaukee and worked for Mount Sinai Hospital and the Feld Medical Clinic. Mim was past president of the Sun Prairie Junior Woman's League, vice president of the Twentieth Century Club of Sun Prairie, served on the board of the Colonial Club in Sun Prairie and was instrumental in the founding of the organization that restored the historic Crosse Home in Sun Prairie. She also served on the board of the Dane County Commission for Aging and was appointed to the Sun Prairie Bicentennial Commission. She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she served as Chair of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Care Team as well as an active choir member. Mim enjoyed spending time with numerous friends in Sun Prairie; however, her favorite time spent was with her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing the piano, traveling, kayaking, swimming and attending her grandchildren's activities. She loved entertaining her family and friends during the holidays. Miriam is survived by her husband, Ron; children Cindi (Jim) Matras, Tim (Lisa) and Mike (Joleen); her grandchildren Hannah, Abbigail, Kristin, Laura, Brian, Jacob and Elizabeth. her sister Jane Stubblefield; daughter-in-law Bev Semmann; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Steve Semmann. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 300 Broadway, Sun Prairie with Rev. Charles Brandt officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, January 14, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. Memorials to Bethlehem Lutheran, HospiceCare or UW Carbone Cancer Center would be appreciated.
