Monica L. Reese

Stoughton- Monica L. Reese, age 63, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Stoughton Hospital following complications from a stroke. She was born in Stoughton on September 7, 1959 the daughter of Harry and Shirley Reese.

Monica was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, and graduated from Stoughton High School. She moved into independent living with support from Community Livings Connections (CLC). With support from Stoughton MARC Monica worked at Walmart for 25 years, retiring on May 10, 2023. She was well known in the community and enjoyed volunteering at many locations. She was very involved in Special Olympics, participating in the 50 meter run, 50 meter walk, 50 meter relay, softball toss, and basketball skills competition. Proudly showing off her metals. Monica enjoyed Gigi’s Playhouse and was active in the adult programs until COVID created changes in the program. She was loved by everyone for her smile and her spunk. Monica led a very rich life fulfilled with family and friends.

She is survived by her parents; two sisters, Tammy (Mitch) Dibbs and Kim (Randy) Maerz; niece and nephews, Geoffrey, Claudia, Bradley, and Jack (Megan Lynch); two great nephews, Iwon and Lane; aunts and uncles, Donna Hommen, Joann (Jim) Haried, Tom (Michelle) Brusegar, Carol Rousseau, and Nancy Fuller; many extended family members; and dear friends. Monica was preceded in death by aunt and uncles, Betty Giese, Craig Fuller, and Howie Rousseau.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County Highway B, Stoughton, with Rev. Paula Geister-Jones officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, immediately following, in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Cress Funeral Home, 206 W. Prospect Street, Stoughton, and from 10:00 AM until the time of services at church on Friday.
