Muriel C. Jevne, age 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 25th, 2022, at Sienna Crest in Oregon, WI. Muriel was born on June 26, 1925 to Audrey and Charles Cain in Cudahy,WI. She was raised in Eau Claire, WI, where she met the love of her life, Byron Jevne. Muriel was a true-to-life “Rosie the Riveter” welder during the War effort. She and Byron maintained constant contact while he served two years as a ship fitter in Bremerton, WA. She and Byron were married in Seattle on Oct. 6th, 1945, and moved shortly thereafter to Madison, WI. While Byron finished his degree from the Light Building School of Commerce at UW Madison, they began their life together raising a family. They lived in an an Airstream trailer! As the family stared to grow, they moved into a home that Byron built. They lived in this home their entire married life.
Muriel was an incredible mother and caregiver, lavishing her 5 children with love. From making sure her children did their school work, to involving herself at school and community events; from expressing her gift as a cook (her family recipies are popular to this day), to showering her children and grandchildren with gifts. Muriel's status as the matriarch of a burgeoning family was evident in all things. The home she built became the epicenter of family reunions, get-togethers, and shenanigans.
Muriel was a strong women who was always on the go. She loved spending time with friends, was an avid card player and bowler, and served as a member of the Women's Builders Association. She made the paper after bowling a 300 - a perfect game - at the local lanes.
Her eldest son (Dave) bought an owl figurine for her one Christmas, sparking a passion for collecting owls. This snowballed into an impressive owl-themed collection which ornamented her home. Truly, Muriel lived life to the fullest, enjoying her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Muriel is survived by her children, Marlene (aka Eartha), David(Sherri), Gilbert (Bonnie), Diane (Pete) and Craig; grandchildren Tricia, Shannon (Raymond), Matthew, Jason (Tina), Lyn (Jesse),Austin, Collin (Rachel); great grandchildren Coltan, Sophie, Brynn, Wallis, Magnus and Silas. Muriel was predeceased by Byron, her husband of 71 years, her brothers, Roger and John and many friends and family. A private family gathering was held at Roselawn Cemetery.
