Myrinda Obrecht

Myrinda Obrecht, age 100, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at University Hospital in Madison.   She was born in Lodi on January 26, 1909, a daughter of Norwegian immigrant parents, Thomas J. and Gertie (Thompson) Thompson.   On April 7, 1930, she was united in marriage to James R. Obrecht.   Myrinda was a humble woman of integrity and grace, who lived life in a simple way.   She was focused on her family and enjoyed all the gatherings that are part of a big family.   She especially enjoyed spending time with the children.   She loved visiting and traveled to many places.   Myrinda had a wonderful wit, and her zingers are fondly remembered.   She is survived by daughters, Lois Volla, and Frances (Richard) Nesbit; son, Richard Obrecht, with whom she made her home in Stoughton for many years; and daughter, Sharon (James) Dalsoren-Lunde; daughter-in-law, Doris Obrecht; son-in-law, Jack Lyon; 14 grandchildren, Susie Olson, Ron Volla, Greg (Tammy) Nesbit, Lori (Chris) Robson, Mark (Nicky) Nesbit, Darla (Jason) Estervig, Ryan (Audra) Dalsoren, Dave (Mikki) Lunde, Julie (Bill) Kortt, Steven Obrecht, Gary Obrecht, Jim (Trish) Obrecht, Sherry (Mike) Webb and   Ronda (Todd) Bernhardt, 20 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Shirley (Robert) Hoel.   She was preceded in death by her former husband, James R. Obrecht; son, James D. Obrecht; daughter, Mary A. Lyon; 2 sons-in-law, Russell Volla and Arnold Dalsoren; 3 brothers, and 4 sisters.   Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 2:00pm at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, with the Rev. Richard Halom officiating.   Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery South.   The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and again on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm.   Following services at the cemetery, a luncheon will be held at the American Legion Hall, 803 N. Page St., Stoughton.
