Madison-Nadine E. Janke-Geertgens, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Meadowmere Assisted Living of Madison where she has resided since May 2009. She was born on Sept. 26, 1931 in Nicolet, MN the daughter of Melvin & Esther (Dallman) Meyer. Nadine was united in marriage with Fredrick Janke on August 1, 1953 and he preceded her in death on November 20, 1976. She then was united in marriage with Larry Geertgens on Aug 18, 2001. She attended high school and college at Dr. Martin Luther College, New Ulm, MN. She taught at Lutheran elementary schools in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. After teaching, she was employed with various agencies with the State of Wisconsin, retiring from Military Affairs in 1996. In her spare time, Nadine enjoyed playing piano & organ, playing games with her grandchildren and listening to Brewer games. She is survived by her husband, Larry; her children, Mark (Jan) Janke, Watertown, Tom (Susan) Janke, WI Rapids, Debra (Chris) Kayser, Sun Prairie and David (Deb) Janke, Marshall; 11 grandchildren, 5 great- grandchildren, 5 step-daughters and several step- grandchildren & step-great-grandchildren; her brother, Vernon (Betty) Meyer, WI Rapids; other relatives and friends. Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastside EV. Lutheran Church, 2310 Independence Lane, Madison with Rev. Michael Novotny officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials to Meadowmere of Madison would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the staff and friends at Meadowmere, the physicians and staff at UW Dialysis, Dr. Sam Poser and all who cared for Nadine.
