MADISON- Nancy Louise (Adkins) Roberts, age 69, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 at an Alzheimer's/dementia care community surrounded by her family. She was born on February 7, 1946 in Richmond, Indiana to Turner and Katherine Adkins. She is survived by her husband, Roger, who was united in marriage with her on August 19, 1967; by their daughter, Stephanie Addington of Chicago and their son, Kyle Roberts of Minneapolis. She is also survived by her mother, Katherine of Kansas, her sister Mary Ann of Florida, and her brother John of Oklahoma. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Dan Addington and grandson, Aedric Addington, and her daughter-in-law Sara Roberts, and grandchildren Ella and Luke Roberts. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jennifer Smith, and her father, Turner of Derby, Kansas.
Nancy graduated from Centerville, Indiana High School, and received a bachelor's and master's degree in music performance (piano and harpsichord) from the University of Louisville. She taught numerous courses in music at a community college and university in Ohio, and after her two children entered school, she taught elementary school music for most of her professional career in Wichita, Kansas. Nancy was an accomplished and creative composer of church anthems and solos, and especially of children's musicals for church and school children's choirs. One of her musicals, "Kid's World" was published by Zondervan Press and was used widely in churches throughout the US and in Europe.
Nancy was a devoted pastor's wife, supporting her husband Roger during his pastorates in Indiana, Ohio, Kansas, Brussels, Belgium, and most recently at Dale Heights Presbyterian Church in Madison. She also served as church and children's choir pianist in all the churches they served until her illness became prohibitive. She was also a loving mother and grandmother and always gave her family top priority over her professional career. Along with her love and devotion to the Lord Jesus and to her husband, Roger, her two children and three grandchildren were the joy of her life.
