Nancy Anna Zabit

Naples, FL -- Madison - Nancy Anna Zabit, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2010 in the company of her family at the age of 89 in Naples, Florida where she resided. Nancy was born June 29, 1921, in Chicogo, Illinois, as the daughter of Andrew and Katherine Emmanuel. She married Nicholas W. Zabit, her husband of 58 years. Those who know her will always reflect on Nancy as a true lady, with grace, dignity and a world of life accomplishments. She possessed the artful ability to balance her strong, confident and self-assured nature with an unending capacity to nurture, love and befriend those who were fortunate enough to be in her life.   Nancy was a philanthropist, who looked at life as an opportunity to spread her love and good will to others first.   She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose purpose was to live life through the joy of her family. She was a masterful Matriarch who was looked up to and loved by three generations of family. Nancy is survived by seven children, 19 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren who reside in California, Florida, Wisconsin and Greece. She was known to all as very spiritual and religious and was an active member of the Greek Orthodox Church since her childhood.    As a pillar of the Church, she served on countless committees and organizations as both a volunteer and a leader with years of selfless dedication and commitment to the Church. She was a resident of Chicago, Illinois; Racine, Wisconsin; Madison, Wisconsin; Kavala, Greece; Key Largo and Naples, Florida.   Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Zabit, her brother Emanuel and two children, Phillip and Paul.   She will be sorely missed by countless people who were blessed to have known and loved her. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at ASSUMPTION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 11 North Seventh Street, Madison, WI 53704. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with funeral services at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, Nancy has requested that donations be made to the St. Peter's Orthodox Mission, 28679 Alessandria, Bonita Springs, Florida 34135. Following the Funeral Service, Nancy will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison, Wisconsin.
