Natalie Stone (Sanders)

Natalie Stone (Sanders) was born in Rochester, MN, on March 22,1958, to Caroline and Clayton (Bud) Sanders. She attended John Marshall High School and Rochester Community College in Rochester, MN.

As a child Natalie enjoyed spending time at her family cabin in Akeley, Minnesota, and overseeing her younger brother, Alan (Al). 

Looking for change after graduation she moved to Madison, WI, where she met the love of her life, Michael Stone. 

After several years together they started a family and on January 17, 1991, they welcomed their beautiful daughter Shannon into the world. Seven years later, and much to Shannon’s delight, they decided that their family was not yet complete. On October 28, 1997, they welcomed baby Sawyer into their lives and the Stone Family was complete.

Natalie genuinely loved and lived for her family. She was a fierce protector and advocate for her children. She was also an adamant support system for her parents; especially her dad, who welcomed Natalie's daily 7pm calls and who lived a full life until the age of 91. 

In addition to her family, Natalie had a profound love for animals. Over the years she adopted, fostered, and cared for countless pets. A donation will be made to the Dane County Humane Society in her honor. 

In recent years, Natalie was heartbroken after experiencing the passing of both her loving husband, Mike, and her beautiful daughter, Shannon. She was preceded in death by her parents. Natalie is survived by her brother Al (Jenna) Sanders, her son Sawyer, her grandson Stone Collier, her son-in-law Kent Collier as well as many friends and extended family members. 

A Celebration of Natalie’s life will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, WI 53590. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 3:30 pm, with a time of sharing to take place at 3:30 pm.
