Madison - Nathaniel Walker, Sr., age 81, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2011. Nathaniel was born in Hernando, Miss. on March 2, 1930, to the late Sammie and Lydia (Bates) Walker.
Nathaniel accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of the Knight Chapel Church.
Nathaniel was educated in Memphis, Tenn. at Porter School and Booker T. Washington High School. He later joined the U.S. Army and married Ruby Yarbrough where two children were born of this union; Nathaniel, Jr. and Shelia. He later relocated to Pittsburgh Penn., where he lived for 15 years.
Nathaniel later relocated to Chicago and married Charlie Mae Walker.
Nathaniel later relocated to Madison, Wis. Nathaniel was a loving father, brother and uncle. He loved to fish.
He leaves to cherish his memories a son, Nathaniel Walker, Jr. of Madison; a daughter, Shelia (Herschek) McClarin of Vallejo, Calif.; granddaughter, Tiffany; great-grandson, Alex; sisters, Betty J. Collier (Leroy) of Memphis, Tenn., Agusta Staples of Madison, Ethel Brooks of Madison, Sandra Taylor, of Madison and Gwendolyn Diemer of Madison. He is further survived by a host of extended relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sammie and Lydia Walker; brother, Sammie Walker, Jr.; sisters, Thelma Vaughns and Katherine Webb; and brothers-in-law, Elbert Brooks, Joe Staples, and John Webb.
Funeral services will be held, Fri. Oct. 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Now Faith Ministries, 1711 Thierer Road, Madison, WI 53704. Pastor Eric Maiden will be officiating. Family will greet friends at church beginning at 10 a.m. A luncheon will be served following the service.
