Nicole Renee Halverson, age 37 passed away Saturday, January 31, 2009 after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.  Nicole was born on March 26, 1971, in Madison, the daughter of late Philip H. Farmer and Cheryl (Winnie) Briggs. On August 23, 1997 she was united in marriage to Brian Halverson in Madison. She graduated from Lake Side Lutheran High School in 1989. For 15 years she worked for Bax Global.  Nicole is survived by, the love of her life, Brian; mother, Cheryl Briggs of Sun Prairie; sister, Kristina (David) Thorne of Sussex; brother, Lance (Katie) Farmer of DeForest; niece and god-daughter, Savanna Thorne of Sussex; grandmother, LaVila Winnie of Madison; mother-in-law, Herma Halverson of Perrysburg, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Pam (Terry) Schilhabel of Perrysburg, Ohio and Jeanne Friedman of St. Louis, Missouri; brother-in-law, Bob (Marcie) Halverson of Cary, Illinois; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and numerous special friends. She is further survived by step-brothers, Richard (Tina) Briggs, Michael (Carrie) Briggs both of Windsor, and Scott (Carolyn) Briggs and their children, Coya and Cadence of DeForest.  Nicole was preceded in death by her father, Philip Farmer and step-father, Robert Briggs.  Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison, with Rev. Mary Pharmer officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 until 7 pm and on Thursday one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Salemville Cemetery, Town of Manchester. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or for cancer research.  The family extends a very special thank you to everyone who contributed their kindness and support throughout Nicole's illness, and also to the doctors, nurses and other staff of UW-Hospital for their wonderful care.  Nicole touched the lives of so many people and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
