Norma Jean Jansen

Waunakee: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norma Jean (Burke) Jansen, age 86, on Jan. 30th, 2024 under the care of Agrace HospiceCare with her children Steve, Shelly, and Nancy by her side. She was born on Mar. 4th, 1937, to Rolland and Lela Burke. She married the love of her life, Richard Jansen, on November 18th, 1954, in Richland Center, WI. They shared a loving 50 years before he passed away in 2005.

Her family meant the world to her, including her three children: Steve (Lorelie Lynch) Jansen, Shelly (Dan) Washa, and Nancy (Tim) Forseth; her grandchildren, Candice Hameister, Shawn McGowan, Erica (Harrison) Festge, Steven (Morgan) Wiener, Christina (Vince) Washa, Amanda (Shawn) Ramer, Jonathon (Amanda) Washa, Max Forseth, and Madyson (Ryan) Forseth; and great-grandchildren, Jack, Alex, and Emma. 

 If you were among the many lucky ones who had the pleasure of knowing Norma, you are truly blessed. She was a lady who touched many people's lives. Always there for her family, friends, and neighbors. Norma spent countless hours helping at the Waunakee Legion fish fries and baking the best lemon meringue pie and apple pies as her little fund for the Badger Honor Flight. Volunteering for the Waunakee community was something near and dear to her heart. Norma also enjoyed pampering and polishing at the Waunakee Manor and helping her daughter Nancy at her salon, raising her children and then helping her with her grandchildren. Norma lost her beloved husband, Richard, in 2005. It was time for her to join him and the rest of her family. She was the sole survivor of her family. 

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Jansen; her parents, Rolland and Lela; her brothers, Cecil, Bob, Dick, and Larry Burke; sisters, Darlene Richardson, Helen Sanden, Bonnie Salzman, Marjorie Burke, and Beverly Aschebrock. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sat., Feb. 24, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 at the Waunakee American Legion, 417 E. Main St., Waunakee.

 In lieu of flowers donations made to Agrace HospiceCare or The Badger Honor Flight.
