Norma Motl

Norma Otilia Brown-Myrah-Motl, age 96 of Sun Prairie, WI passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023 as a patient at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI, where she was hospitalized after having a catastrophic stroke at her residence.

Norma Otilia Brown was born July 7, 1926 in Radisson, WI to Otelia Madson and James Harding Brown. She was preceded in death by Gordon E. Myrah (DoD 1973) and Cyril J. Motl (DoD 2006).

In her youth, she spent her summers living at her parents' resort on Blueberry Lake in Sawyer County. During the winter she resided in Radisson, WI where her father was a merchant. She had two brothers, Harding and Robert who she adored. She developed a great respect for the Ojibwe people, who were their neighbors to the resort.

She married Gordon E. Myrah on June 26, 1946. They had two sons, Gordon E. Myrah, Jr. and Gary E. Myrah. Gordon passed away in November 1973. She married Cyril J. Motl on December 3, 1974. Rev. Gordon Myrah officiated the wedding.

Throughout her life she had a strong faith and was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie. She was very proud to be one of the founders of Our Savior’s. After marrying Cyril Motl, she took on the responsibility of managing Evergreen Mobile Home Park in Marshall, WI.

She is survived by her son Gary Myrah, his fiancé Lisa Ames, Diane Myrah/(Rev. Dr. Gordon Myrah and five grandchildren, Michael Myrah/Carrie, Stephen Myrah/Tasha, Kristin Kranzusch/Robert, Dawn Myrah/Paul Keady, Amy Gleason/Mark. She also is survived by eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, Gordon E. Myrah, Sr., husband, Cyril J. Motl, and son, Rev. Gordon E. Myrah, Jr.

Funeral services are scheduled for February 9, 2023 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 550 Lincoln Dr., Sun Prairie, WI. Visitation for friends and family will be from 9:30am-11:00am. Rev. Tim Hansen will lead the memorial service starting at 11:00am. Norma’s lifelong love of animals may be memorialized through donations in her name to the Wisconsin Humane Society (federal tax ID#: 39-0810533).
