STOUGHTON- Norman P. Christensen, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2009 in Stoughton. He was born on October 25, 1919, in Stoughton, a son of the late Ted and Tillie (Anderson) Christensen. Norm lived his entire life in Stoughton graduating from Stoughton High School and working at Highway Trailers until his retirement. He cherished sharing coffee, cookies and conversation with family and friends and delighted in the exuberance of his many great-grandchildren. He was happiest when he was outside and busy. He was a prolific fisherman, an energetic dancer, and a meticulous lawn mower and gardener. He enjoyed summers at his cottage on Lake Waubesa and winters in Arizona. He is survived by: a daughter, Sonja Forler, Stoughton; a brother, Archie (Pat) Christensen, Stoughton; a daughter-in-law, Kay Christensen, McFarland; 3 grandchildren, Jenifer (Anthony) Guidici, Barrington, Ill; Bjorn (Lisa) Christensen, Waukesha; Daniel Forler, McFarland; 4 great-grandchildren, Joseph, Nicholas, Kellsie, and Kiera; 5 step-children, Sharon (Gerry) Meicher, James (Pat) Shaub, Russ (Jane) Shaub, Julie (Jim) Mabis, and Kris (Phil) Post; 23 step-grandchildren, 30 step great-grandchildren, 2 step great-great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, Norm was preceded in death by his first wife of 29 years, Kari; his second wife of 25 years, Jean; 2 brothers, Gary and Kenneth; a sister, Ruth; 2 step-children, Walter and Tom Schaub, and recently, a son, George. The family would also like to thank the staff at Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation Center, The Harbor House, and HospiceCare, Inc. for their care and compassion. A funeral service celebrating Norm's life will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Halom officiating. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 am until time of service. Following the committal, fellowship will continue at the American Legion Post in Stoughton.
