Dahl, Norman A. Â April 14, 1909 -- May 12, 2009 Â Madison - Norman A. Dahl, age 100, of Madison, died on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at HospiceCare. He was born April 14, 1909 in Everest, Kansas, the son of Otto and Bertha (Rude) Dahl. Norman was very proud to have been born to Norwegian immigrant parents who settled and farmed in Kansas. Â He was the eighth of nine children and has been the sole survivor of his family for more than ten years. Â After graduating from high school, he ventured to Wisconsin to work with his brother, John. Â Norman was a partner in Rein, Schultz and Dahl, a Verona-based road construction company, with two of his brothers, a nephew and other relatives. He married Edna Smith in 1936, a marriage which lasted more than 61 years. Â Edna preceded him in death in 1998. Â His family was his greatest source of pride. In his nearly forty years of retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, bowling and golfing, all of which he did up until two years ago. Â He is mourned and will be missed by his two daughters; Sylvia Stephens and Judith (James) Du Mez; his six grandchildren, Dale Stephens, Andrew (Jane) Stephens, Sharon ( Troy) Leiker, David (Kim) Stephens, Mark Du Mez and Berit (Michael) Fischer and ten great grandchildren. Â Â He was a devoted member of Midvale Lutheran Church. Â Memorial services will be held at MIDVALE COMMUNITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4329 Tokay Blvd., on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bruce Loewenhagen officiating. Â A visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Â Private family burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Â In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Midvale Community Lutheran Church, 4329 Tokay Blvd., Madison, WI 53705 or to the HospiceCare Facility, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.
