Norman J. Taugher

Madison -- Norman J. Taugher, age 96, died on Tuesday, November 18, 2008. He was born on November 6, 1912, in Milwaukee. Norman married the former Jane P. Urbanek of Manitowoc on April 18, 1938. He graduated from Marquette University Law School (J.D.) in 1936. Norman was employed by the State of Wisconsin for 41 years until his retirement in 1978. He began as Unemployment Examiner. In 1945, he became an Administration Law Judge for the Workers Compensation Division for 19 years, later becoming Division Administrator. He and Jane enjoyed traveling extensively in Europe, Asia and Africa. Norman is survived by his wife, Jane; a daughter, Judy (Allen) Hable; a son, Richard (Marcia) Taugher; four grandchildren, Diane (Darrel) Roberts, Jeff Hable, Ryan Taugher, and Rebecca Taugher; two great-grandchildren, Jared and Samantha Roberts; and a brother, Dr. Don (Ann) Taugher of Monterey, California. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the TREE OF LIFE CHAPEL AT OAKWOOD VILLAGE EAST, 5565 Tancho Drive, Madison, with Msgr. Terrence L. Connors officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at Oakwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Oakwood Foundation, 6201 Mineral Point Road, Madison, WI 53705.
