Norman Warmath

Oregon- Norman Gene Warmath, age 79, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.  He was born in Kentucky on November 24, 1942, the son of Norman and Nealie Mai Warmath.  Norm was drafted into the US Navy in July of 1961 and served his country as a minesweeper, present during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  On December 28, 1971 he married Ellen Loehr.  Together they enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  Early in his career Norm was a part of the Iron Workers Union working specifically for the Tennessee Valley Authority alongside his father.  After that he held a variety of construction foreman jobs and eventually was self-employed.  Norm enjoyed fishing with his daughters and sideline coaching all of his daughters’ events.  His favorite pastime was smoking pork shoulders and tinkering in the garage with his grandsons.

Norm is survived by three daughters, Paige Gardner Ryan of Jackson, TN, Julie (Bryan) Hamer of Edgerton, WI, and Pam (Tim) Strandlie of Stoughton, WI; two grandsons, Tyler and Ethan Strandlie; sister-in-law, Linda Warmath of Jackson, TN; nephew, Jeremy Warmath of Smyrna, TN; and nieces, Jennifer (Todd) Huddle of LaGuardo, TN and Teresa (Danny) Langston of Cordova, TN.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two brothers, James (Carole) and Jerris Warmath.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Cress Funeral Home, 206 W. Prospect Street, Stoughton.  Burial, with Military honors, will follow in Riverside Cemetery.  Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, following the burial, at the Stoughton American Legion.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 19, 2022, and from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
