Oliver E. Weum, age 95, passed away at his home on Friday, February 21, 2014. Oliver was born on the family farm in Utica on October 4, 1918, the son of Peder and Caroline (Kalland) Weum. He married the love of his life Helen Howe on Aug 19, 1939 in Dubuque, IA.
Over the many years of marriage they farmed the Stoughton area; they loved to travel especially to Northern Wisconsin and Las Vegas. Oliver was a business broker for many farmers and businesses in Southern Wisconsin. The family would like to thank his hospice volunteers Pam and Kevin; and his hospice Chaplin Steve Zwettler for the companionship they have given dad. A special thank you to Yvonne for the dedication and love she showed dad in his declining years. Oliver enjoyed very much the love and care that Corrine provided him as well.
Oliver is survived by his three children, Sharon (Chet) Frederick, Yvonne (Rocky) Redepenning, Duane (Judy) Weum, sister Margaret Olson and his sister in-law Marie Weum. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen, his 8 brothers, and his great granddaughter Alexia.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday February 25, 2014 at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, with Rev. Richard Halom presiding. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. Oliver will be laid to rest next to his wife Helen at Riverside Cemetery. Immediately following the interment, friends and family will gather for a luncheon at the American Legion Post 59 on 803 N Page St. Stoughton.
