Stoughton - Orlin Dale Groven, age 92, died December 2, 2021, at Stoughton Meadows Assisted Living, Stoughton, Wisconsin. He was born September 9, 1929, in Stoughton, Wisconsin, the son of Oscar Groven and Ida Dalsoren Groven. He married Arlene Ames in January 1953 at Wild Rose, Wisconsin.
Orlin grew up on the family farm near Lake Kegonsa. He graduated from Stoughton High School and went on to the University of Wisconsin at Madison to study agriculture. In October 1951 he joined the Marines during the Korean Conflict. While in the service he met his future wife. Returning to Wisconsin, he worked for many years at Gibbs and Aquadyne in Janesville. Later in his career, he worked at Sundstrand Aviation in Rockford, Illinois. While working he also had a farm. Besides engineering he had a keen interest in organic farming.
Survivors include his daughter Barbara Cantrell of Montana, two grandsons, one granddaughter, and one great granddaughter, also leaving behind a special cousin and her husband, Bonnie and Erwin Konrad, and special neighbors Luther and Lori Johnson. Preceded in death by his wife Arlene Groven, sons Scott Ames Groven and Bruce J Groven, and grandson Curtis Cantrell.
There will be a graveside service on Friday, December 10, 2021, at 1:00 pm at East Side Cemetery in Stoughton.
