Orlin 'Orlie' R Wethal

Orlin Orlie' R. Wethal, age 83, died unexpectedly, surrounded by his family at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison on Thursday, April 1, 2010.   He was born in the Town of Rutland on October 14, 1926, a son of Carl and Elma (Christiansen) Wethal.   Orlie served his country in the Army.   He was united in marriage to Rhea Pearson in Edgerton on June 26, 1948.   Orlie lived and farmed for most of his life in the Stoughton area.   His major passion was for agricultural sales, most recently seed corn.   Orlie was selling seed corn up to the day of his death.   He loved to play euchre, and played as often as possible.   He was well loved and respected, and cared a great deal about others.   He will be dearly missed by his wife of 61 years, Rhea; children, Ron (Linda) Wethal, Sandy (Alan) Page, Susan (Robert) Lee, Mark (Rhonda) Wethal, Mike (Kathy) Wethal, Terry (John) Veum, and Lisa (Rob) White; grandchildren, Steve and Scott Wethal, Randy and Eric Page, Ryan and Joshua Lee, Jeff, Chad and Abbey Wethal, Jessica Landess, Jeremy, Jenny, Tia and Tasha Wethal, Amber and Mandy Veum, and Samantha and Jake White; many great grandchildren; a brother, Bud (Pat) Wethal; a sister, Joan (Stanley) Sperry; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.   He was preceded in death by a brother, Dean; and 2 sisters in law, Ruth and Eloise.   Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 11:00 am at Cooksville Lutheran Church, 11927 W. Church St., with the Rev. Margo Martens officiating.   Military rites will follow the services at church, and a luncheon will be held at the Stoughton American Legion Hall.   The family will greet friends at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress funeral home in Stoughton on Monday, April 5th from 4 to 8 pm, and again at church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service.   Special thanks to Orlie's friend Kenny West for all his help over the years, and to the staff at St. Mary's Neurological ICU.
