MADISON- Pat A. Machovec, 65, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, August 27th. Pat was born on September 16th, 1953 in Hillsboro, WI. He moved to Madison in his early twenties and entered the insurance business. In his thirties, Pat bought a liquor store in Madison and with it, found his calling. He purchased several more stores and ran them for the remainder of his life.
Pat enjoyed many of life's pleasures. He loved to travel, particularly to Jamaica, where he enjoyed playing golf. He was an avid reader. You would often catch Pat with a cigar in his mouth and barbecue sauce on his face. He loved to eat, especially chocolate.
When Pat was younger, he drove motorcycles all over the country, went skiing in Colorado, and ran marathons. He loved life so very much, and he lived it to the fullest. He will be missed by so many.
Pat is survived by his beloved cat, Monte III; sister, Kathleen ("Pete" as Pat called her); brother-in-law, Tom; special nephews, Nick, Sam, and Jacob; sister, Jean Tonn; brother, Michael Machovec; sister-in-law, Shirley; nephews Dax Machovec and Kevin Gray. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marge and Robert Machovec; and sister, Mary Gray.
A celebration of Pat's life will be held on Thursday, September 5th from 4-7 p.m. at the Cress Center, 6021 University Ave, Madison. There will be a time of sharing beginning at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CurePSP, 1216 Broadway, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10001, or at
