Patricia Stevens Blum

Patricia "Patty" Lynn Stevens was born on May 20, 1953, in Madison, WI, and died on November 10, 2021. She was the fifth child of Bernadette Browning Stevens (1928-2016) and Raymond Stevens (1926-2019). For six years she was the baby in the Stevens family and was adored by her four older siblings. All who knew her as a child were impressed with her sweet disposition and large brown eyes. She attended Madison public schools and was one of the teens who was shifted to Madison East High School from Madison Central High School when the latter closed. She remained a Downtowner in spirit, though.

Patty married and became a mother at a young age. Her home was a welcoming place to all as she fulfilled her familial tradition of "throw another potato in the pot" for those who needed a place to land for a night or a year. Her lifelong hobby was getting to know people. Anyone who knew her will long be able to recall her authentic, hearty laugh. Patty also maintained a wonderful sense of humor, sharp wit, and unusual candor. All of these qualities made her very approachable.

Patty is survived by her three children: Jennifer Blum and her children, Amanda Blum and Kimberly Sengbusch; James Blum and his wife, Jennifer Regez Blum, and their children, Marina and Annaliese; and Steve Blum and his wife, Ashley. She had two great-grandchildren, Xzavion Vauters and Zaveah Blum. She is further survived by siblings Janet Stevens; Tom Stevens and his wife, Mimi Stevens; David Stevens and his wife, Wei Han; Carol Stevens; and, Roxanne Starr and her husband, Tom. In addition to her parents, Patty was predeceased by siblings, Jean "Beanie" Stevens and Mike Stevens.

A celebration of Patty's life will be Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 1:00pm until 3:00 pm at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 East Washington Ave, Madison
