Patricia Louise Koval (Riley) of Madison, Wisconsin passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. Known to friends and family as "Pat" or "Patty," she was born on February 11, 1938, in Ashland, Wisconsin, to Emmett and Louise Riley (Bitzer). Patricia attended Northland College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education.
She met Charles ("Chuck") Koval in high school, and they married on August 24, 1957. Patricia was a creative and dynamic teacher at Shorewood Hills Elementary School for nearly twenty years. She cherished her coworkers and appreciated the diversity of cultures among her students, which enriched her life. A devoted Catholic, Patricia drew strength and inspiration from her faith communities. She was blessed to worship at Saint Paul’s Catholic Student
Center (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Blessed Sacrament (Madison, WI), and Saint Michael the Archangel (Cary, NC). Patricia and Chuck were proud members of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. She volunteered with the Attic Angels, was a member of PEO, served as President of The University League, and was on the Board of Saint Vincent de Paul.
In addition to her teaching career, Patricia was a talented antique picker, decorator, and host. Those who knew her admired her sense of humor, generosity, and unwavering support for her loved ones.
Patricia is survived by her sisters, Roberta (Berthiaume) of Port Washington, WI, Mary (Hill) of Grafton, WI, and Elinor Riley (Ron); her sons, Michael (Jane) and Daniel (Kris) Koval; her daughter, Mary Louise Williams (David) of Cary, NC; grandchildren: Shawn Koval (Erica), Riley Koval (Jasmine), Kevin Koval (Camila), Connor Koval, Colleen Koval, Emmett Williams, Brigit Williams, Annie Williams, Niamh Williams; great-grandchildren: Miles Koval, Alma Koval and Liam Koval.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Charles, beloved parents Emmett and Louise Riley, brothers William and Shawn, and sister-in-law Harriet Riley.
The Funeral Mass and burial will be private. Donations may be made to Saint Vincent de Paul - Madison.
